Music for the Mind

Our millennium has adapted to a wide range of music that they listen to on repeat. Everyone has a different taste of what good music is to them and what they enjoy. It may also change based on what their feelings are or what kind of mood they are in.  For some people when they're on their way to work or getting ready they might want to listen to some country artist such as Luke Bryan or Tim McGraw. On the other hand, they may need to listen to Kendrick Lamar’s new song Humble to start their day off right.
For me, I like to listen to a variety of genres including country, latin pop, hip hop, r&b, and rap. It all just depends on what kind of mood I’m in. I would say for most athletes they need music to pump them up and get them ready. Athletes  get their headphones ready, charge up their phone and put on their game day playlist. I can almost guarantee that every athlete either has a playlist that they listen to as they get on the bus or walking onto their field. Some might have their playlist that streams  all day. Their playlists all look different and we all have certain songs that we must listen to before we get on the field.
Athletes need that music to get relaxed and focused, or get their blood pumping. Football players  need music that is going to get them pumped and get their adrenaline going. They play such an intense physical game that they need to be physically and mentally ready. With music, they are able to get mentally ready and stay in the zone. They need that music to stay fully relaxed and ready to go and keep themselves up. Football players and basketball players don't do it with contemporary music. Even with high tempo music with rap and hip hop they are able to stay loose and get ready for the game. Professional players have fun with their music: they dance, they sing and they get their so called swag from listening to music.
For baseball players it's slightly different when it comes to team hitting. When a baseball team goes out for batting practice before the game, more often than not, they listen to country music. When I first began playing college baseball, we would listen to country music. At first I wasn’t a fan, but you just adapt to it and it is something that I listen to on a normal basis now. Something that we would listen to would be Florida Georgia Line - Dirt, or Round Here. These songs are high tempo songs that have  good words that you can listen to and stay relaxed with.
For my playlist, I like something that I can dance and sing to, something  keeps me up and ready to play. I especially like songs that have beat drops that you can just go crazy to and make you feel really good. Here are five songs in my playlist that have a great drop. Everytime I listen, I’m nodding my head.
  1. Take U There by Jack U
  2. Dj Turn It Up by yellow claw
  3. Purple Lamborghini by Skrillex ft Rick Ross
  4. In the Name of Love by Martin Garrix
  5. Closer by The Chainsmokers
I also have songs that I just like to listen to for the words and just the rhythm that the song has. For me, words also mean a lot and the beat of the song gets me pumped up such as:
  1. Hand of God by Jon Bellion
  2. That What I Like by Bruno Mars
  3. Congratulations by Post Malone
  4. Double Bubble Trouble  by M.I.A- Matangi
  5. Suavemente by Elvis Crespo

The whole purpose of music is to get athletes loose and ready to play. If they feel good,   they're going to play well and that starts with music and how that makes them feel. We all have certain music that we love and enjoy hearing constantly. Whether you're an athlete or someone who just likes music while doing everyday activities, music makes us feel good.

I hope you guys like this blog on how music can get you ready for a game or just make you feel good when hearing music. Don’t be afraid to comment, like, or subscribe. Don’t forget to check out some of these songs and see how they make you feel.
