Rap & Hip-Hop New Music

About three weeks ago Drake released another album called “More Life.” More life has been number one on the charts since he has released it. But this was not a typical album that we are used to from the talented rapper. Drake structured this album as a playlist. In an interview he commented that it was just music that he liked and wanted to put out for the fans. It was just what he was feeling at the time. This is one of the reasons you get slower/R&B songs like Get It Together, Madiba Riddim, Passionfruit, and Blem. You also get songs that are more trap music and Drake surprises us with a spin having U.K. rappers on the album such as Giggs and Skepta.

More Life has, in my opinion, more hype songs that you could use for pregame music or even a gym playlist. Of course Drake has a feature with one of the hottest rapper out Quavo on song Portland. Young Thug ended up being a feature on two songs while 2 Chainz and Travis Scott were also on one. Drake also has features with Kanye West, PARTYNEXTDOOR, and Sampha. Drake reached out on the project and got some big name rappers to help reach different fan bases.

Drake made this project because he wanted to show people that he really doesn't care what people think anymore. His two best songs, in my opinion, were how he started the playlist with Free Smoke, then to how he ended it with Do Not Disturb. Drake really makes it known that he is tuning out what the outsiders and saying or think when it comes to negativity. Drake makes this clear with the line “All the love I need is here at OVO” in the song Do Not Disturb.

Logic has just released a single from his album called Everybody. This song is more of an under the radar song but it speaks more to people. He talks about his life and how it was hard growing up because he has one parent white and one black so that people did not accept him on either end. This song has a really good beat to it and of course logic always puts out good music. Stay tuned, the release date is May 5th.

Kendrick Lamar has released two great songs, HUMBLE, and The Heart Part 4. In The Heart Part 4, Kendrick starts talking about how someone is telling a lie about him and Kendrick really doesn't like that. He is basically calling this person fake and that he will tell the truth about him if he keeps lying on Kendrick's name. There are rumors that it could be someone that Kendrick named on control but nothing has been confirmed yet. Kendrick finished that song saying “Y’all got til April the 7th to get y’all shit together.” We shall see who he is really talking about soon so stay  tuned on that. In HUMBLE, Kendrick has a really good beat and just keeps telling other rappers to be humble. I really think he is talking about the same person that he was talking about in The Heart Part 4. These are basically distracts and he keeps saying he wants people to be real. He makes this comment how he would rather see stretch marks because he knows that's real and now we have so many people that are fake. Kendrick is working on a new album so be ready, no release date has officially be said yet.
