Music on the Move

Music serves many purposes in our lives, some of which have already been explained in weeks past. Aside from the fact that it helps get your mind get into the game to focus on things such as sports, there are so many more instances in our lives where music is incredibly valuable.

One of these, and I would argue one of the most important, is in the car while driving or traveling. Just take a moment to think. Try to remember a time where you drove somewhere and did not have your music blasting to kill the time. This is hardly ever the case. Music is a great way to “pass the time” when sitting in a car, unable to do anything else but drive. It makes time pass by faster and takes the dread of sitting in traffic for hours and hours on end away almost completely. Take it from someone who knows exactly what this is like. Living in the Los Angeles area and commuting back and forth to school certain days of the week, I find myself sitting on the 210 freeway in traffic. Music during this time is crucial to my mental health . I find the drive quite enjoyable because I get to listen to my favorite songs the whole time. The music that helps bring me through the commute consists of a wide range of genres including country, my favorite, a little pop, and just a few songs that fit under others.

Since country is my favorite, here are  a few songs that get me through my time on the road:

  1. The Fighter by Keith Urban featuring Carrie Underwood
  2. Body Like a Backroad by Sam Hunt
  3. Craving You by Thomas Rhett
  4. The Weekend by Brantley Gilbert
  5. God, Your Mama, and Me by Florida Georgia Line

Here are a few from other genres that add to the jam on the freeway:
  1. It Ain’t Me by Kygo and Selena Gomez
  2. That’s What I Like by Bruno Mars
  3. Paris by Chainsmokers
  4. Chained to the Rhythm by Katy Perry
  5. Swalla by Jason Derulo featuring Nicki Minaj and Ty Dolla $ign

Music is a must while spending any amount of time in the car, but it is not only beneficial when sitting in traffic. With summer break quickly approaching, music is going to make an appearance in the car during trips to various places such as the beach or vacations. Fun and upbeat favorites playing while on the way to a destination for a fun day really sets the mood.

Music serves as our outlet for many things. I can only believe that the reason for this is because it is easy to take with you wherever you might find yourself. This can be either in the car, on a walk, on a run, in our transition periods between classes, etc. Music can be accessed through so many different outlets,  literally meaning that it is at our fingertips no matter where we are.

We want to know what music does for you! Maybe it  rescues you from traffic, or other situations that were not mentioned. Please comment below and let us know what you are thinking! Also, what are some of the songs you enjoy while driving?
